How to combat the initial blues of parenthood

Parenthood is a blessing. Everyone  in this world craves for this very moment when someone will call them “mom” , “dad”. The first day , a couple knows that they are expecting their first child ,is a moment of eternal bliss. And after a long wait when the baby comes to this world , their joy knows no bounds. However, parenthood is a huge responsibility . And parenting is certainly not a cake walk. The initial days of parenthood surely makes one feel miserable. There is no sleep , no rest. Everything revolves around the baby. Parents don’t get a moment’s rest or sleep. They have to wake at odd hours , now and then. Sometimes for feeding the baby , sometimes for changing diapers, sometimes for putting the baby back to sleep. All these leads to depression . Here are some ways whereby parents can fight these initial blues.

The first step is to see your baby’s cute little face and realize how lucky you are . God has given you a priceless gift . He selected only you to take care of His priceless gift.Consider yourself the luckiest people in this whole wide world , because God selected you to be the baby’s parents and not someone else.

The second step is , make yourself understand  that these days will not continue for ever. With every dawn ,you will see new developments in the baby.

The third step is ,try to enjoy each and every moment with the baby. Because with time your baby will grow. And you will miss all these moments later on.

The fourth step is do everything with a smile.Fatigue and sleepless days and nights will certainly make you sick. But try and smile .

The fifth step is take a break.Ask help from your parents or siblings to take care of your baby for a day , while you do your own things and get some rest.
