I asked a question on here earlier about my daughter being to tomboyish and someone said I needed to brush up on my parenting skills. Isnt this site supposed to be for support. I am a first time mom and I dont really know what is normal for kids so I am interested and ask questions. So why is it that someone tells a first time mommy that she needs to brush up on her parenting skills when she’s not even sure if she’s doing it right the first time. I am just dissapointed that mothers cant look back to the time when they first brought there little one home and how scared they were.

Parenting is the most important job anyone could undertake, but as it is now, there are no skill requirements. I believe this is why some people do such a terrible job and why we have so many f***ed-up people. Parents just don’t know what they’re getting into when they have children.
This is NOT about the right to have children.
It’s learning something about raising them so they don’t mess them up through iignorance.
I’m frustrated by the misunderstanding of this question. For example if a parent knew what a two-year-olds needs are at that stage of development, wouldn’t s/he be able to respond more appropriately to problems with that child and avoid stress and possible loss of temper?
