Combating postpartum depression

There is a saying stating, “Every child birth is a rebirth of the mother”. Every woman has a desire to become a mother. The path of motherhood is not full of roses. The initial period after a baby is born is sometimes very tough for a mother. Sleepless nights, enervating days, household chores and stress can lead to depression. Many women suffer from this depression known as postpartum depression. However, they try to hide it. Which can lead to mental stress. Here are some tips, which can help overcome this depression.

The first thing to do is to look at your baby’s face. Just see how beautiful he is, how innocent he is. He is so lucky to have you as his mother and you are so lucky to have him in your life. Just think, this sweet, little; innocent baby does not even know where he is. He is in this world because you wanted him to come to your life. And since, God loves you a lot, he blessed you with this little prince. And remember, he is not going to stay a baby always, He is going to grow up day by day. Enjoy every phase of his growth. Feel the warmth of his giggle. Take his little fingers in your hand see how precious he is. Just imagine what a gift God has given you. He is your flesh and blood. See the traits he inherited from you.

Getting exhausted at this stage is very obvious. So, when you get tired, ask someone to help you. Ask a family member to help you so that you can get some sleep. Take a break occasionally. Ask someone in your family to take care of your little one for some time while you go and do some shopping for yourself. Pamper yourself more. Go to beauty salon, get a nice hairstyle, get yourself a nice massage in some good spa salon.

Eat well. This is one of the most important steps to keep yourself away from depression. After child birth its very important for a mother to continue taking vitamins. Ask your doctor about vitamin tablets. Eat nutritious food, plenty of green vegetables and fruits. Drink plenty of water because it helps flush out toxins from the body.

Last but not the least , remember , you are a mother now and  God gives immense mental and physical strength to every mother. Now you have the responsibility of making a Good Samaritan. This is one job, which you have to fulfill diligently.

Motherhood is an eternal joy. Every woman in this world has a desire to become a mother. Motherhood is a blessing and a joy, every woman craves for. Hence it is very important to take necessary steps so that both mother and her baby gets a healthy and happy life. Here are some tips for a healthy pregnancy.

The moment you know you are pregnant, go to your gynecologist. It’s very important to get yourself checked by your doctor through out the whole period. The initial period of pregnancy is a bit tough to deal it because many women suffer from nausea, morning sickness and mood swings. But with strong will power, you can becalm your mind. Don’t take medicines without consulting your doctor. Self-medication can be harmful to both the mother and the baby. If suffer from morning sickness, try natural remedies. Try smelling a lemon. Try deep breathing in the morning fresh air. Go for a little walk. Always maintain a routine for your food. Never ignore your diet. Include plenty of water and milk in your daily diet. Water and milk helps neutralize the acidic level of the body. Eat lots of green vegetables and fruits. Apart from providing the necessary nutrients, vegetables and fruits contribute to the fiber required by the body. Fiber aids in removing constipation, which is one problem, which bothers a lot.  Lessen your salt intake. Salt results in water retention and high blood pressure, which is not good in pregnancy. Lessen you sugar intake as well because gestational diabetes is common in pregnancy and it will lead to problems. Eat everything in neutral amounts. That way, you will get to eat the food you crave for without causing health problems. Ask your doctor if its good for you to go for walks. If it is, try getting a walk daily. Never forget the vitamins doctor prescribed you. Make sure you take them in time. Visit your doctor according to the schedule he or she asked you to visit.

Now, some tips for keeping your baby n good mental health. During pregnancy, it’s very important to keep yourself baby. Because, with every mood, hormones are released in the body which affects the baby. So, if you are happy and staying with all smiles, your baby will be happy automatically. After your bath, sit in a relaxed position and touch your belly with your hand and feel your baby and talk to him. Tell him, what are your dreams for him. What you want him to become. How wonderful it will be to have him in your life. Tell him all the good and positive things that come to your mind. Music is one more thing, which soothes the body and mind. Listen to nice and soothing music. While listening to the music, ask your baby if he is enjoying too. Avoid thinking negative. Always focus on positive thoughts and actions. Read a good lot of books. Make sure those books are based on positive attitude towards life. Enjoy your period of pregnancy to the brim because it is a gift to you by Almighty. And yes , at the dawn of every day , make sure you pray to Almighty and thank him for all the good things He has given you.
